Frequently asked questions
Q1: Is a LiFePO₄ battery suitable for my work truck?
Absolutely. It powers your truck’s starting system and keeps key onboard devices running when the engine is off—reducing idling, saving fuel, and improving comfort during long stops.
Q2: Is a LiFePO₄ battery more cost-effective for work trucks?
Yes. Compared with lead-acid batteries, LiFePO₄ batteries offer a much longer service life and maintain consistent output over time. For work trucks, this translates into dependable starting power and long-term energy storage for parked operation, reducing downtime and replacement frequency.
Q3: Can you use a LiFePO₄ battery in a truck?
If your truck requires higher energy capacity for onboard appliances, a 24V LiFePO₄ battery is a practical solution. It can power multiple devices such as refrigerators, air conditioners, lighting, and other electrical equipment during parked operation, reducing the need for engine idling.
Q4: Is a 230Ah LiFePO₄ battery enough for truck parking AC?
A 230Ah LiFePO₄ battery can typically run a truck parking air conditioner for 8–12 hours, depending on factors like AC power, temperature settings, and ambient temperature.
Daytime (~26°C): ~8 hours at 30A discharge
Nighttime: ~12 hours at 20A discharge
The battery will automatically reserve power for vehicle starting when below 10% charge. To maintain battery health, recharge it promptly when capacity drops below 10%.
Q5: How should I prepare my LiFePO₄ battery for offseason storage?
For offseason storage, a LiFePO₄ battery should be kept at 50–70% state of charge, rather than fully charged or fully discharged, to reduce cell stress and slow aging. Store the battery in a cool, dry environment, avoiding high temperatures above 40°C and freezing conditions. During long-term storage, it’s recommended to check the battery every 3–6 months and recharge it back to 50–70% if necessary. Always disconnect the battery and protect the terminals to prevent short circuits. Proper storage conditions help maintain capacity and extend the overall lifespan of LiFePO₄ batteries.
