CARKU Debuts Advanced Sodium-Ion Battery Technology in 2025

Sodium-ion batteries have emerged as a leading breakthrough in the start-stop market. Their development addresses the challenges of limited raw material resources while offering high recyclability and an abundant material supply. Leveraging these advantages, CARKU has focused on sodium-ion start-stop products as a key area for exploring and applying new battery materials. This approach not only enhances the environmental sustainability of its products but also provides reliable power solutions across multiple applications, including passenger vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, and generators.

Wide Temperature Adaptability

Sodium-ion batteries are engineered to operate reliably across extreme temperature ranges. They support cold starts at -40°C and continue to function stably in high-temperature environments up to 70–80°C, making them suitable for both cold climates and hot regions where conventional batteries often fail.

Stable Operation in High-Temperature Environments

Even when installed near high-heat areas such as exhaust systems and transmissions—where temperatures can reach 75–80°C—sodium-ion batteries remain unaffected. Their wide-temperature tolerance ensures consistent operation under continuous thermal stress, outperforming traditional lead-acid batteries in racing and high-load applications.

Long Lifecycle and Reliability

Sodium-ion batteries maintain up to 90% capacity after 1,000 cycles at elevated temperatures, delivering long-term reliability in harsh environments. This significantly reduces replacement frequency compared to lead-acid batteries, especially in regions with sustained high temperatures such as the Middle East.

Inherent Safety

Unlike lead-acid batteries and certain lithium-based chemistries, sodium-ion batteries are non-flammable by nature, eliminating fire and thermal runaway risks. This inherent safety makes them a dependable choice for demanding applications where operational stability is critical.

Power Stability Under Frequent Start-Stop Conditions

During high-intensity use involving repeated engine starts and stops, sodium-ion starter batteries demonstrate consistent output and voltage stability. Even under sustained load over multiple days, performance remains steady without degradation.

Lightweight Construction

Weight reduction is a major advantage in performance-focused applications. Sodium-ion batteries are at least 50% lighter than conventional AGM batteries, improving vehicle efficiency, handling, and overall performance—especially in racing environments.

CARKU highlighted the strong potential of these batteries across trucks, passenger vehicles, motorcycles, and generators, positioning sodium-ion technology as a reliable and versatile power solution for a wide range of real-world applications.
